Statement of Faith

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God and is the only rule for faith and practice. We believe it was written by man, but inspired by God so that every word was written exactly as God wanted it to be. We believe that God has supernaturally preserved His words throughout history making the Bible the only authority on truth, faith, and morality.

We believe in one God who exists in three persons: the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit .

We believe God is holy, infinite, intelligent, perfect, unchanging, and personal.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of all men., was buried and rose again.

We believe the Holy Spirit is come to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. and that he comes to teach and guide believers into all truth.

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, and also a state of innocence. We believe that in Adam's sin the human race fell and since then every person is a sinner both by birth and by practice.

We believe that every person must be born again in order to be forgiven of his sin and saved from hell. We believe that salvation is by grace through faith apart from works and is available to every single person who would believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We accept the Genesis account as being a historic record of creation and that space, time, energy, and matter, as well as all subsequent beings, were created by God, not produced by any process of evolution. We believe that the six days of creation were six literal twenty-four hour days. We reject evolution, the Gap Theory, the Day-Age Theory, and Theistic Evolution as unscriptural theories of origin.

We believe that the privilege and responsibility of every Christian is to grow into spiritual maturity through obedience to the Word of God and the indwelling Holy Spirit. We believe that we should demonstrate love for others, not only toward fellow believers, but also toward both those who are not believers, those who oppose us, and those who engage in sinful actions.

We believe that the true church is one body composed of all believers, with Jesus Christ as head all working together but separately to proclaim the Gospel to a lost and dying world.

We believe that baptism and the Lord's Supper are scriptural ordinances to be observed by the church today; however, by participating in said ordinances, no merit is given to the salvation of one's soul.

We believe God has ordained and created marriage to exist between one man and one woman and that God created mankind in His image: male and female, sexually different but with equal personal dignity.

Statements of Understanding

We believe the primary responsibility for the education of children rests with the parents. Education is not merely the transmission of information; it is the formation of the human soul in accordance with the Biblical standard of excellence and view of reality. Pinewood Academy exists, then, as a service to like-minded parents in this God-given task. It is therefore the responsibility of the parent-teacher to communicate the truth clearly in all academic areas, and to seek to motivate the child to search out all things. At the same time, it is incumbent upon the child to learn and mature.

Home Conduct

Pinewood Academy  is a religious ministry of Pinewood church providing an education in a distinct Christian environment, and it believes that its biblical role is to work in conjunction with the home to mold students to be Christlike. On those occasions in which the atmosphere or conduct within a particular home is counter to or in opposition to the Biblical lifestyle the school teaches, the academy reserves the right,  within its sole discretion, to refuse admission of an applicant or to discontinue enrollment of a student. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, living in, condoning, or supporting sexual immorality (adultery, fornication, pornography); practicing homosexual lifestyle or alternative gender identity; promoting such practices; or otherwise having the inability to support the moral principles of the academy (Leviticus 20:13a, Romans 1:27, Matthew 19:4-6)

Student Success

The key to the success of students at Pinewood Academy  is the integration of a biblically based, parent guided, Christian faith and a sound, teacher-facilitated, academic environment. The Bible gives parents authority and responsibility for raising their children with the goal of becoming disciples of Jesus Christ. In matters of education, that parental authority and responsibility, although not surrendered, is shared with an educational institution when the parents consider it desirable or necessary. In such cases, Pinewood Academy  will assist, and not replace, parents in their work of training and educating their children. (Deut 6:5-7, Deut 11:19, Prov 22:6)

Marriage, Gender, Sexuality

God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. This belief also accounts for (1) dressing in conformance with one’s biological sex; (2) using the restrooms, locker rooms, and changing facilities conforming to one’s biological sex. “Biological sex” means the condition of being male or female, which is determined by a person’s chromosomes, and is identified at birth by a person’s anatomy. Those who reject their biological sex are sometimes referred to as “transgender.” Intimacy is designed by our Creator to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.)

The Sanctity of Human Life

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps 139.)

Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct

The statement of faith and statements of understanding do not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Pinewood Academy’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, Pinewood Church is the school’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application. (1 Pet 1:25, 2 Tim 2:15, Heb 4:12).

Agreement

We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Pinewood Academy as an expression of the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the families of Pinewood Academy and the community, it is imperative that all persons involved with Pinewood Academy, in any capacity, agree to and abide by these Statements on Home Conduct, Student Success, Marriage, Gender, Sexuality, the Sanctity of Human Life, and the Authority of the Bible. (Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16; 1 Thess 5:22.)
